Disney Fantasy Remy Dinner Review
Table Of Content
Remy is Disney's most upscale dining venue and the dress code upholds this image. A jacket is required for men (either a sports coat, suit jacket or tuxedo); women should be in cocktail or evening dresses. During brunch, the rules are a bit more relaxed, but don't expect to wander in wearing jeans, capris or shorts.
Disney Magic Lounges and Bars
Unfortunately, this dining experience is not included in the base cost of a Disney cruise, meaning that to dine here, you have to be willing to pay for the cover charge. While steep, it may be worth it to some passengers looking for the ultimate dining experience onboard a Disney Cruise Line ship. It’s an incredible honor to be recognized by Michelin for the innovative dining experience our team brings to life here at Victoria & Albert’s. Everybody on our team earned this Star, from our stewards to our culinarians to our pastry chefs, and we hope to inspire future generations of culinary professionals to follow their dreams.
Palo Steakhouse
If this was offered on the rotational dining menus, I’d order it as a soup course every night. This is another course that seems to have shifted somewhat recently, and used to be some foie gras and cauliflower foam, each in crispy wafer shells. The shaved fois gras is still around, but the cauliflower foam has been replaced with micro-curls of cheese instead. This is the first of your “surprise” courses before you even get to your ordered menu.

When the plate was served, we had a beautiful presentation of delicate strings of potato topping the fish. The caviar provided the exact flavor to go with the vegetable and sauce. This was two layers of puff pastry separated by pastry cream. The third dessert was Refigieuse Caramel, which is a classic French Pastry made of stacked cakes. This is an almond flavored cake with praline flavored cream. The menu does change periodically, but tends to remain substantially similar for several months or even years.
Disney Cruise Line Menus
I’d love to see more of this on other menus and in my belly. The bit of carrot puree and braised short rib that is encapsulated on the dish (not too visible in the picture, unfortunately) is a really neat surprise. It almost bursts in your mouth with sweet carrot puree and then that delicious meatiness that is short ribs. Previously, dinner at Remy was a $95 surcharge, which is now up to $125 per person. This is expensive, but you also have to factor in the value of the dinner you’re forgoing, which is built into the cost of the cruise.
Olaf's Royal Picnic
You can also partake of a variety of fancy water options or have any soft drink available on the ship. If you want to get started on the road to haute cuisine, there is no better place to start than the adult dining venues on Disney Cruise Line. This means you have waiter who will take your order and bring you your food. It usually takes a bit longer than quick serve / to-go establishments, but has a nicer atmosphere. Our next chicken dish, the Poulet Rouge, is sourced from North Carolina.
Another favorite is the lasagna, which is the perfect size for everyone to get a few bites before moving on to something else. If you eat your first almond croissant in a hurry, just ask your server if they can bring you another one. Dinner at the restaurant can be done as an a la carte meal where you pay for each item or a set cost prix-fixe menu for $50. I prefer to do the a la carte menu because it has more options. Plus, most of the dishes are shared among family or friends, so choosing this option makes it so I can try more things. The a la carte menu is also the only way to try the restaurant's iconic potato gnocchi, which is tossed in a fresh basil pesto sauce.
Duncan, the Sommelier on hand, presented the fancy wine menu.Ultimately, we each went with a glass of Taittinger Brut Prestige Rosé. A big part of this decision is that Remy dinner is a marathon and if you do not pace yourself, you will pass out in a food coma midway through the cheese cart. For a more intimate and private dining experience, the Gusteau room seats fewer parties, and the rich maroon carpet and wallpaper with pictures transport you directly into Gusteau’s restaurant. The experience starts the moment you walk into the restaurant along a large wall of wine.
Disney Cruise Line – Remy Dinner Review
Sowers has also assisted in the creation of menus for Remy for Disney Cruise Line aboard the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy. The restaurant’s team of chefs is led by Chef Matthew Sowers, who graduated from Le Cordon Bleu culinary school and worked at The Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island. He was later mentored by James Beard “Best Chef in the South” nominee Chef Scott Hunnel, who recruited him for the Victoria & Albert’s team. The extra-cost snack shop has everything from gelato in crispy waffle cones to baked goodies and candy.
The restaurant provides attentive and personalized service, contributing to creating an atmosphere of luxury that opens an unforgettable parenthesis in the Disney cruise experience. The Remy restaurant is known to be one of the most exclusive dining options on Disney‘s fleet. It is a place that offers a gourmet French culinary experience in a refined environment, ensuring one of the most sophisticated dining experiences at sea. You can make additions to these menus, such as a wine pairing or upgrades to the wagyu beef. But be aware that when you order the 5-course prix fixe menu, you’ll already be getting one welcome drink, your 5 courses, plus two “surprise” pre-courses, bread, and additional desserts. And this is coming from someone that ordered every single appetizer and entree on the Royal Palace menu earlier in the cruise.
If you don't have a sea day on your itinerary, brunch might be served on a port day. On a recent cruise, I made a reservation for brunch at Palo when the ship was docked in Nassau, Bahamas. The last of the rotational dining options on Disney Wonder is Triton's, which is the ship's fine dining option among the rotational dining restaurants.
We trusted the process, but if we could go back in time, I’d probably ask if there could be something swapped in. I ordered the French menu, which was more heavily seafood-based, and my husband chose the American menu. For just about every course, we switched plates halfway through so that we could each experience every dish. Highly recommend doing this if you’re dining with your significant other.
If you are someone looking to celebrate a special occasion, then dining at Remy is the perfect way to celebrate. For example, in many luxury French restaurants, there's a small stool provided for lady patrons to place their handbags so that they do not get dirty on the floor. Harkening back to its French roots, Remy also provides a small stool for ladies to place their purses and belongings on! I brought along my clutch and Polaroid camera, and both rested safely next to me during dinner.

One final stop stands between you and your main courses – bread and butter! On a night filled with SO much food, this bread is worth the room. We were served fresh sourdough with three types of butter – red pepper, regular, and seaweed. You also get a small pot of fleur de sel (really, really fancy and rare form of sea salt harvested in France) to tweak the saltiness of your butter if needed.
This is special occasion brunch, not overslept-and-missed-breakfast brunch. Men should wear dress pants and a collared shirt (jacket not required) and women should wear a dress or pantsuit. For all meals, you must be at least 18 years old to dine at Remy.
Menus for both can be seen on the Disney Cruise Line app or by asking a crew member at the restaurant. Be sure to ask for a seat near a window because the views are usually incredible. As of September 2021 it was $75 per person + $33 for the optional Champagne tasting (plus tax and gratuity). I found it to be a complete dining experience combining fabulous food and amazing service to make an extraordinary memory. It’s an elevated experience, but most folks will find the Dessert Experience foods to be at least marginally familiar.
